Holistic Nutrition FAQs

What is Holistic Nutrition?

Holistic Nutrition is the practice of focusing on the whole person, acknowledging that everyone is unique and, hence, has unique needs. The goal is to unify the physical, nutritional, environmental, emotional and spiritual components of a client’s life to promote healing and wellbeing.

What are the benefits of holistic nutrition?

Mainstream medicine does not emphasize the significance of poor nutrition as a major cause of a wide range of health disorders. Although most people are aware of the benefits of sound nutrition, the range of conflicting information available to the consumer is often confusing. RHNs (Registered Holistic Nutritionists) and RNCPs (Registered Nutritional Consulting Practitioners) guide their clients through the maze of information from books, magazines, supplements and diets on the market. They work with clients to identify and help correct the nutritional causes of diseases and they are qualified to design personalized diet and lifestyle programs to optimize health.

Why do you need an individualized service?

Each person is unique. There is no one diet or lifestyle that is right for everyone all of the time. There are also no miracle foods or herbs that will cure all ills.

Holistic nutritionists are professionals trained in the natural nutrition and complementary therapies, whose principal function is to educate individuals and groups about the benefits and health impact of optimal nutrition

Clarifying misconceptions...

Did you know that big companies fund clinical trials and have flooded the market with supposedly "healthy" processed and artificial food-like products?

Moreover, the very associations we count on to guide us on making healthy choices are themselves funded by these processed food giants!

Why are we all tired all the time?

Each generation's health is slightly more compromised than the previous one, since we inherit our parents' immune system strength, and we weaken further due to pollutants in the air, water, and food.

Therefore, our generation must be more vigilant about the quality of the food we eat. There is definitely a direct relationship between what we eat (and our lifestyles) and how we feel, which ultimately affects our quality of life.

Only live, natural, good quality wholesome foods can produce the degree of health that brings peace of mind and enjoyment of life.

Live means the food still contains live enzymes (e.g., fruit, vegetables, sprouts)

Natural means the food is unprocessed and unrefined (e.g., whole grains and legumes)
Good quality means the food was grown in soil rich in essential nutrients such as organically grown foods (grown without synthetic fertilizers or pesticides)

Personalized Services

As a Holistic Nutritionist and Allergist, I focus on each person as a unique individual with individual needs. No two programs or recommendations are the same! This is very important because something that works for one person is not necessarily beneficial for another. Completion of a comprehensive questionnaire and in-depth consultation serve to uncover organ imbalances in the body.

Individual recommendations are geared towards creating balance and, therefore, improved health. Lifestyle and diet modifications, selective supplements when appropriate, food and environmental sensitivities identification plus elimination, and cleanses / detoxifications are employed to achieve goals.

Some examples of how holistic nutrition can help you:

Weight Management

Stop dieting and start living. Receive an effective and individualized strategy including diet, supplements and lifestyle changes to ease you into a healthier lifestyle. Learn to maximize your metabolism and minimize sugar cravings. Work with your body not against it!

Weight conscious people have tried diet after diet, only to find that the weight comes back --- and faster each time. A lifestyle approach that incorporates each individual’s likes, dislikes and way of life is the best way to take the weight off and keep it off. Sometimes hormone balancing and food allergy solutions are also necessary.

Stress and Fatigue

Our busy lifestyles wreak havoc with our bodies. Learn to support your body by feeding it the nutrients necessary for a healthy nervous system. Get the most out of life!

Digestive troubles

Prescription and over the counter medications only mask the symptoms, and do not resolve the cause of the problem. These medications can also make the underlying cause for the problem worse, along with side effects, perpetuating the need for medications and sometimes creating new conditions needing new medications. Relief can be obtained with the help of some simple changes to the diet and way of eating, along with some very effective food-based supplements aimed at promoting healing of the whole digestive system.

Health conscious

There is so much information out there --- and some of it is misleading, misinterpreted or downright wrong. My job is to help my clients weed out the good sources of information from the unreliable. I coach clients along their own path to optimum health.

A thorough nutritional and lifestyle assessment is used to pinpoint areas of imbalance, and recommendations for changes in diet, supplements and lifestyle are aimed at achieving balance.

Improve productivity

By learning how to improve health and energy levels gives independent employees valuable information to improve their quality of life and health, and will likely result in improved productivity.

At corporate level, sharing information on topics with maximum impact on overall health gives employees information on how to improve their families quality eating habits and will likely result in reduced absenteeism and improved productivity

Testimonials

I'm feeling better than I did one week ago. I've been taking the Digestive Enzymes, as you recommended, and they have helped a lot in my digestion and bowel movements. I'm also definitely staying away from most of the foods you identified that I am allergic to. Although it's only been a week, I've seen and felt improvements. I have a long way to go still, but I finally feel I'm on the right path towards recovering! "
